Anar Mammadov: Golf, Business, and Charity

In 2012, Anar Mammadov was appointed as the chairman of the Azerbaijan Golf Federation, capping off an incredible 15 years of success in the business world. Bringing the world's attention to Azerbaijan as a world class golfing destination, via the building of an 18 hole course and accompanying luxury facilities, has cemented Anar Mammadov as one of the leading businessmen and philanthropists to have come out of the Caucasus region for decades.

After completing a series of degrees including Law, the Arts, and a Master's in Business Administration, Anar Mammadov founded a small investment company called ZQAN Holding in 2005. With a modest investment, he showed his raw talent for building profitable businesses quickly, and by 2013, when the company was renamed as Garant Holding, he was chairman of one of the most exciting companies in all of Azerbaijan.

Since its inception, Garant Holding has built an impressive reputation as a company which balances profit with ethical business practices. With a staggering 30 brands across 18 subsidiaries, Garant Holding has managed all along to commit itself to a policy of social responsibility, helping to encourage community relationships and conscientious employment. All of this has been achieved through Anar Mammadov's humanitarian outlook, which has led to a number of other charitable organisations.

In 2011, he founded the Azerbaijan America Alliance which has prioritized closer ties between both Azerbaijan and America in order to benefit all Azeri people around the world. Hosting numerous community initiatives and events, the Alliance has been a key campaigner behind the growing reputation of Azerbaijan as a great investment opportunity for American businesses.

As of 2014, Anar Mammadov's efforts continue in developing successful businesses and initiatives which can truly benefit the Azeri people. No finer example of his impact can be found than the Azerbaijan Golf Federation's attempts to promote and encourage school children to become healthier and engage with the sporting world. It is hoped that through such schemes, a new generation will emerge which truly values discipline, hard work and respect for those around them. This commitment to sport has brought about the hosting of two fantastic golf tournaments, the Heydar Aliyev competition organised for enthusiastic amateur golfers, and the European Challenge Tour where the world's golfing stars will grace Azerbaijan's first ever national golf course.
